New Specs for Jasmine

My daughter has been squinting for a couple of months now. When I first mentioned to her that she probably needed glasses, she started crying and went on about how her friends would make fun of her and call her four eyes.

Kids really can be cruel sometimes, but I assured her that her "real friends" would never call her names or make fun of her glasses. She agreed and so we set the appointment.

She had a great time, except for when it was time to get her eyes dialated. She did not find that part fun at all.

Picking frames was fun. She coincidentally picked the "Jasmine" frames from the Disney Princess collection. Those are the ones she is wearing in the picture.

She said "You know Mom, these glasses don't help me see one bit!" So I had to explain how her glasses have to be made specially for her and these are just for her to try on. How funny. She was so serious.

  1. As a "luker" I am coming "out" to say ....she looks beautiful in her glasses. And anyone that tells her different can take it up with me ;)))

  2. Awww....she looks so nice. Does she need them for everything, or just for reading? I'm so happy to hear that you got your camera. By the way, your daughter looks just like you. ;0)

  3. Laurel Wreath,

Thanks for the kind words. I will be sure to tell her. :-)

    Shereen,

Yes, that picture of my daughter was taken with my new camera. I'm so happy to finally be able to take pictures again.

Everyone tells me that my daughter looks just like me. Then they talk about how beautiful she is. It's so weird, because I have never considered myself to be beautiful, but I do think that she is. It's weird how we see ourselves.

  4. I can remember being so worried about wearing glasses for the first time. Someone told me that 90% of what we worry about is not worth worrying about at all. That comforted me, even as a child.
