Sabbath Preparations

My family and I have been working on our Sabbath preparations. I believe with all my heart that how you prepare for Sabbath (whether you worship on Saturday or Sunday) is directly tied to your spiritual growth. When I was growing up as a little girl, My Grandmother prepared all week long for Sunday. By Monday she already knew what she was making for Sunday dinner and what day she was going to the store to get it.

By Saturday afternoon, everything was done. All of the clothes were ready. The food was cooked (we only heated it up on Sunday). Sunday dinner after church was the best. Everyone sat at the table and had dinner together and talked about everything that had happened to them that week before.

For those of you who at present do not prepare for Sabbath. I challenge you to give it some thought. God rested on the seventh day, before sin entered the world. He blessed and hallowed that day He made it for man. Not so that man could do whatever he wanted to with it, but because he would need that time with God to be refreshed and take some time from the cares of this world.

So my challenge to you this week is to prepare you heart as well as your home for your special day with the Lord.

  1. Hi Yolanda,
I came for a visit from orgjunkie.com. Had a look at your menu plan and decided to look around a bit. This post intrigued me. Can I ask, what do you do on the Sabbath ? I mean, what do you consider work and not work ? Does your family go to church on the Sabbath or stay home ? I hope you don't mind me asking ... like I said, I'm intrigued !

  2. I took up your challenge and made sure all church clothes from last week were washed today. We always have an issue with missing socks or slips if I don't plan ahead. I'm going to work on our meal next.
