Oven Baked French Toast Recipe with vegan option

French Toast is one of my favorite breakfast foods. My Mom made it often when I was growing up. This weekend a local bed and breakfast featured its recipe in a local magazine and she even has instructions to veganize it. I made it this morning and it was delightful. The recipe is only for 2 servings so be sure to make proportions suitable for your family.

French bread cut 1-1 1/4 wide remove crusts

1 large egg

1/4 cup milk

1 dash Heavy cream

1 Tbsp maple syrup

1 Tbsp orange syrp

1/4 tsp vanilla extract

1/8 tsp salt

1. Whisk it all together until well blended.

2. Preheat oven to 375 F

3. SPOON the batter over the bread, including the crustless edges. Place on greased cookie sheet

4. Place bread in oven and bake 10 minutes.

5. Flip and bake another 10-15 minutes until top is golden brown.

6. Serve immediately; sprinkled with powdered sugar, fresh fruit or topping of your choice.

*Do not dip as this is what makes the bread soggy

Heart Preparation

In my devotion time this morning, God laid the word preparation on my heart. As I meditated on this word the thought of preparing my heart for Christ's soon return filled my mind.

God formed Adam from the dust of the ground. I imagined a plot of soil read to be tilled for gardening. As the soil must be prepared before planting seeds, so must my heart be prepared to receive Christ.

Proverbs 16:1 says "The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord

It is God that prepares my heart to plant in it the fruits of the Spirit. As I spend time with Him, He waters and shines His Light and breathes His air upon me that I may grow. As I grow and mature, I bear fruit and those who come in contact with me know that I have been nurtured by the Master Gardner because of the fragrant fruit that I bear.
