Pants vs Shorts

It's getting hot here in Texas and I have been trying to get my son to wear shorts to keep him cool, but for some odd reason he does not like shorts. He says he likes the way that the pants feel. I've tried to accommodate by buying him some lightweight pants because in the middle of summer (when you wake up to 85 degree weather) it will be entirely too hot to wear jeans.

I talked to another Mom and her son has the same issue. Who knew?? Is this common among boys? Now that I think about it, my brothers will only wear shorts if they are long. Hmmmm, I'm going to have to further investigate this.

  1. Hi Yolanda,

I have enjoyed reading your blog. I found it off the list that was posted on the AHE group several months ago.

A friend and I were having a discussion about what EGW actually says about modesty. So I read some of the quotes in Child Guidance. I came across one which says that our limbs, unlike our face, were not meant to be exposed. So if he is happy and comfortable in his long pants I would just let him be unless you think he is in danger of having a heat stroke.

When my son was younger he would where long sleeves and long pants at times I would have thought he would be too hot. Maybe it has to do with their growing metabolisms.

    Have a great Sabbath.

  2. Hi Lisa,

Thanks for stopping by. :-) Overheating was my main concern as he gets hot so quickly, but I have been having him drink lots of water which seems to be helping nicely.

    Happy Sabbath to you.

  3. My son prefers his shorts to be on the longer side as well.
