On the Needles

I have been working on knitting a clapotis. My yarn for this project is the Noro Matsuri color 6. The original pattern calls for Lorna Laces Lion and Lamb in Bittersweet. It's 50% silk and out of my price range! :)

I have made it to section 3 row 8 and am ready to drop stitches. In the few months that I have been knitting it seems that one of my main goals has been to keep all of the stitches on the needle and now I'm on a pattern that wants me to drop them! I've a little nervous to say the least. I found a great website that explains how to drop them and so I guess I'm not as nervous as I would be.

Here is what I have done so far. If you look closely you will notice that my needles are not in the project. I counted my last row and my stitches were off so I had to unravel to get back on track. :)

My next project is the Bunny Tail hat from Itty-bitty hats by Susan B. Anderson. I am the host this month for a charity knitting project on ravelry and this is one of the hats we are making for the knit-a-long. If you have a Ravelry account please stop by and see me (yolandamarie).

My yarn of choice for this project is Cascade Farms Cash Vero DK color 2865

Sweetheart Washcloth

I am making this pattern from Susan B Anderson for Valentine's Day gifts. Here is the first one I finished. Do you give gifts for Valentine's?

Financial Blessing Challenge Update

Today is Day 4 of the Financial Blessing Challenge (see previous post) and already the $100 given to me has doubled to $200. One of church members says that the Holy Spirit impressed her to give it to me. Wow. My "talent" has doubled already and I have no clue how it's going to be used!

During the second church service, when my daughter agreed to be involved with blessing someone, I had a thought of knitting or crocheting hats for the babies at the children's hospital that is close to our church. When I asked her if she had an idea of what she wanted to do with the money, she said she wanted to find a nice charity in the area to give it to. So maybe the knitting or crocheting of the hats was an idea for me.?

I'm feeling a bit of nervous excitement. I know that God is going to bless this tremendously and I'm anxious to see how!

Stay tuned! :-)

New Hobby-Knitting

I was reading someone's blog and saw a reference to a knitting site that teaches you how to knit. My daughter had asked me how to knit. I have never knitted anything or seen anyone knit anything for that matter, but I learned how to crochet from a video in 1997-the year my daughter was born.

So I figured well how hard can it be, right? I found out that two ladies at my church know how to knit (one learned in the 5th grade and still remebers) and were gracious enough to show my daughter and me some of the basics. The knitting video actually helped me more than the live instruction. I'm guessing because I could keep rewinding and I didn't have to keep asking someone to "do it over, please". :-)

Here is what I have been working on. I'm learning all the stitches.

My daughter wants to make a scarf. We haven't started any projects yet as we are still learning the basics. We have pretty much mastered the Cast-On and knit stitch. I'm still working on the purl stitch. My last row and a half is what I have done of that so far. I have a ton of ideas of things I would like to make...
Do you knit? If so, please share what you are working on and how you learned.
