I Won, I Won!

A couple of weeks ago I attended a Threads of Love meeting and the director told a story of a quilt that been made by some of the volunteers, sold at an auction, and bought buy her husband. She wanted to raffle the quilt to make money for her chapter. When I saw the quilt I was thoroughly impressed by the craftmanship of it and thought it to be very "Texan" with the boots and stars. I thought of how I would love to have it, but only bought a ticket to support the group.

Today was the 5th birthday party of this Threads of Love chapter and guess who won the quilt? I couldn't believe it. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it, but I am happy to have it indeed.

My Clapotis is Done

Earlier I wrote a post on my latest knitting project, the clapotis. After knitting it halfway through and ripping it out, I finally finished it. I went to a graduation party last night and several of the ladies there fell in love with it. One in particular wore it until it was time for me to go. As I was walking out to my car, I was impressed to give it to her. So I'll be packing it up in a nice little bag and presenting it to her at church this weekend.

The first picture is what the colors actually look like. I guess the lights from the kitchen table flushed out the colors in the second.

I've already purchased to yarn to knit my next one so maybe I'll get to keep that one. :)

That Still Small Voice

Today is the last meeting of my son's Adventurer Club is today. The director likes to give goodie bags to each kid as a part of their End of the Year party. She asks that each parent donate items to the bag(about$1for each item) and let each of us know how many items to purchase.

I had planned to go to Walmart to pick up a few items and so I figured I would just look in the toy isle to see what little trinkets I could find. As I was driving to Walmart, I felt an impression to go to Walgreens. This was a little odd because I don't generally shop there. There is a new one in town and I could take the route to Walmart that takes me right past it.

I go into Walgreens head to the toy isle and I see the cutest little stuffed animals for $0.99. And just when I thought that was enough, there were exactly 17 different ones-the exact number I needed for the party!

I praise God that He is faithful to me even in the seemingly insignificant matters of life!

Simple Mayonnaise (Vegan)

One of the hardest things for me when deciding to go vegan was giving up mayonnaise. I was not impressed with the cost of the substitutes. I was more than excited when I bought the Seven Secrets Cookbook by Jim and Neva Brackett. They have a recipe that uses items that I keep in my pantry. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. :)

Simple Mayonnaise

12 oz box of MoriNu Silken Tofu, or 1/2 brick regular tofu plus 3/4 cup water

1 cup raw cashew nuts

1/4 cup lemon juice

1 1/2 TBS honey or (2 of sugar)

2 tsp salt

1 tsp onion powder (not granulated)

Place all ingredients in blender, and blend for at least 1 minute until silky smooth. Chill to thicken.

Makes 3 cups

Menu Plan Monday

I am trying to get back into the habit of menu planning. When I'm annoyed by the question "What's for Dinner"? Then I know there is a problem! And of course the only problem is that I don't have an answer!
